SK Broadband announced on the 30th that the number of viewers for 'B tv Happy Senior,' a senior-exclusive menu, increased by 47% year-on-year last year, and the number of viewing instances rose by 82%. Over the past three years, the number of viewers for Happy Senior has increased 29.5 times, and the number of viewing instances has increased 37 times.
Launched in 2018, B tv's Happy Senior is a service designed for elderly customers. It offers a variety of movies, dramas, and entertainment content tailored to the tastes of senior customers. Additionally, the UI of Happy Senior features larger font sizes and poster images compared to other B tv menus.
To help seniors, who are accustomed to live viewing, easily experience on-demand viewing (VOD), various information content such as free movies, horoscopes, and news tailored to senior tastes are broadcast live through B tv channel numbers 69 and 89. Menus suited to senior preferences, such as 'I Like Trot,' 'Health Keeper,' and 'Happy Travel,' are separately programmed.
Happy Senior also provides services that can help seniors in their overall lives. To bridge the digital information gap for seniors who find internet searching difficult, it offers guidance on smartphone usage, kiosk operation, and senior job information.
Recently, the 'Today's Pick' service, which provides daily content on seniors' sleep health and various lifestyle information, was launched. New services are also being prepared, such as an AI human-guided public transportation information service accessible via phone.
Accordingly, the number of Happy Senior users has increased 29.5 times in viewers and 37 times in viewing instances over the past three years. Last year, the number of viewers rose by 47% and viewing instances by 82% compared to the previous year, accelerating the growth trend.
According to the Korea Communications Commission's '2023 Media Usage Survey,' the response rates for watching TV five or more days a week among people in their 50s, 60s, and 70s were 86%, 95.3%, and 97.5%, respectively.
