In 2020, when the domestic medical system was on the verge of collapse due to the spread of COVID-19, Simmons delivered 300 million KRW in treatment expenses to Samsung Seoul Hospital for pediatric cancer and patients battling severe rare and intractable diseases who might have been neglected, and has continued to donate 300 million KRW annually since then.

In particular, starting last year, Simmons became the first domestic company to support pediatric and adolescent palliative care at Samsung Seoul Hospital, expanding the culture of donation. Thanks to Simmons Bed’s goodwill, more than 130 patients have received treatment to date.

Pediatric and adolescent palliative care refers to providing comprehensive services to patients with severe illnesses and their families, including ▲improving patients’ quality of life through pain management ▲psychological and social support for patients and families ▲support for patients’ physical and emotional development ▲care for families during end-of-life and bereavement, helping to alleviate difficulties families may face during the treatment period.

Starting this year, Simmons will assist in launching the Pediatric and Adolescent Integrated Care Center, which encompasses palliative care, home medical care, short-term hospitalization, hospital school, and rehabilitation therapy.

With Simmons Bed’s support, the Pediatric and Adolescent Integrated Care Center at Samsung Seoul Hospital, set to take its first step in the second half of this year, will have a palliative care team working within the hospital and a home medical care team providing treatment and care at patients’ homes, carefully attending to patients and their families.

Meanwhile, in February last year, Simmons became the first in the industry to release the ESG bed ‘Beautyrest 1925’ as a limited edition. For each unit sold, 5% of the consumer price is accumulated as a remodeling fund for the Pediatric and Adolescent Center at Samsung Seoul Hospital, scheduled for completion in 2025. Over 2,000 units were sold last year, achieving a cumulative donation of 400 million KRW.
