Prime Minister Han Duck-soo emphasized on the 28th that "the various structural reforms pursued by our government are urgent tasks of the era that cannot be hesitated or delayed for the future of the Republic of Korea."

On the same day, at the 479th anniversary commemorative event of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's birth held at Hyeonchungsa in Asan, Chungnam, Prime Minister Han said, "Upholding the indomitable spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, we will lead the Republic of Korea onto a new path of leap forward."

He called Admiral Yi Sun-sin a true hero, saying, "When the Imjin War broke out, he saved the country by leading numerous battles to victory with outstanding leadership, and with an unwavering sense of mission and justice that did not compromise with injustice, he did not hesitate to serve twice as a common soldier, worrying only about the safety of the country and its people."

He continued, "I believe that his noble loyalty and spirit of loving the people are the spiritual strength that enables our nation to overcome any crisis and challenge," emphasizing, "It is a precious teaching that we must inherit."

Prime Minister Han explained that he will overcome difficulties by upholding the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

He said, "We are now at a crossroads between leap forward and stagnation in an era of global complex crises and great transformation," adding, "While overcoming the difficulties of the people's economy, it is time to put more effort into preparing for future growth. We must unite the national capabilities through reconciliation and integration, not conflict and confrontation."

Prime Minister Han added, "I will do my best to quietly accomplish the tasks of reform solely for the people and the next generation," and "On this meaningful birthday of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, let us reflect on his great teachings and envision a shining future for an advanced Korea."
