Dongdaemun-gu Children and Youth Participation Organization Launch Ceremony Held

Appointment of Child Council Members and Youth Participation Committee Members at Dongdaemun Youth Center on the 27th
Realizing Children's Participation Rights through Child and Youth Policy Proposal Contest and General Assembly

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced that the inauguration ceremony for the 6th Children's Council and the 7th Youth Participation Committee was held at 10 a.m. on the 27th in the small auditorium on the 5th floor of the Dongdaemun Youth Center.

The district launched the participation organizations in 2018 to guarantee children's right to participate in the policy-making process by allowing children and youth in the area to directly express their opinions on policies and issues related to them.

Since February this year, through public recruitment and institutional recommendations, 31 members of the Children's Council and 16 members of the Youth Participation Committee were selected. On this day, appointment letters, badges, and stoles were awarded to the 6th Children's Council members and the 7th Youth Participation Committee members to mark the beginning of their new terms.

Starting with the inauguration ceremony, members of the Children's Council and Youth Participation Committee will continue their autonomous activities such as regular meetings, district administration monitoring, policy proposal contests, plenary sessions, as well as international youth exchange activities and visits to the National Assembly.

Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We hope you will propose fresh and diverse opinions to create a happy Dongdaemun-gu,” and added, “We will do our best to support our children and youth so that they can dream of the future and take on new challenges.”
