Simulated Drone Terror Situation Training at Water Purification Plant Critical to Residents' Lives

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted a joint defense drill on the 25th at the Guui Arisu Water Purification Center with six organizations including civilian, government, military, police, and fire departments.

This drill, organized by Gwangjin-gu as part of the Chungmu training, simulated a drone terror situation at the Guui Arisu Water Purification Center, a national critical facility, in preparation for provocations and threats such as recent Russian attacks on oil facilities and North Korean drone attacks.

The drill, assuming the Eulji 3-type crisis, involved about 240 personnel from Gwangjin-gu Office, Capital Defense Command, Gwangjin Police Station, Gwangjin Fire Station, Guui Arisu Water Purification Center, and Konkuk University Hospital. Military equipment such as helicopters and armored vehicles, as well as training equipment including patrol cars and ambulances, were also deployed.

The training proceeded for about an hour in the order of ▲ unidentified drone identification and neutralization ▲ enemy infiltration ▲ terrorism at national critical facilities ▲ hostage rescue and armed suppression. Terrorism suspects were identified and the injured were evacuated. The drill concluded with a joint anti-terror armed suppression by military and police special forces.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The Chungmu training is a comprehensive wartime situation room operation and resource mobilization drill that thoroughly prepares for real situations. I deeply thank all related organizations who helped prepare this large-scale drill together. No matter how many drills we conduct, we cannot improve unless we practice as if it were real. We will do our best to improve the shortcomings found in this drill and strengthen the good points to make Gwangjin-gu safer.”
