"Incheon Sales Center Leaks to Card Recruiter"
Woori Card experienced an incident in which personal information of approximately 75,000 merchant representatives was leaked to card solicitors.
On the 26th, Woori Card posted an apology to customers regarding the personal information leak incident and stated that those involved in the case would be strictly disciplined. The company also pledged to strengthen its internal security system to prevent recurrence.
According to Woori Card, from January to April this year, personal (credit) information of about 75,000 Woori Card merchant representatives was leaked to card solicitors at the Woori Card Incheon Sales Center. The leaked information included the merchant representatives' ▲names ▲phone numbers ▲whether they were Woori Card members, and the card solicitors who received this information reportedly used it for the purpose of recruiting new Woori Card customers, Woori Card explained.
The leak was detected through the company’s internal control channels and immediately confirmed through an internal audit. Woori Card is currently notifying the affected merchant representatives of the leak and has confirmed that no customer damage has occurred so far.
In the apology posted on its website, Woori Card stated, "We sincerely apologize for the leak of personal credit information of some card merchant representatives." It added, "As soon as we became aware of the incident, we verified the details and prevented any further leaks."
Furthermore, the company emphasized, "We will strictly discipline those involved in this incident and pledge to thoroughly protect personal credit information by strengthening internal security systems and raising security awareness among all employees to prevent similar incidents from recurring."
Additionally, Woori Card informed that if any damage occurs related to the personal information leak, affected individuals can report the infringement to the Personal Information Infringement Report Center and apply for mediation through the Dispute Mediation Committee.
