Starbucks Korea will start selling cocktail beverages at the Shinsegae Yeongrangho Resort store in Sokcho, Gangwon-do, from the 29th.

On the afternoon of the 26th, Starbucks posted an announcement regarding this on its application (app) What's New. The Starbucks Yeongrangho Resort store is located on the 20th floor of Shinsegae Yeongrangho Resort, and construction is currently underway as of this date. The official opening date is the 29th.

Starbucks explained that it originally planned to sell cocktail beverages at the X the Sky store in Haeundae-gu, Busan, from the end of last month, but due to reasons such as store structure, the launch schedule and store location were changed.

The cocktail beverage menu to be sold at the Starbucks Yeongrangho Resort store consists of a total of four items, with an alcohol content ranging from 4 to 10 degrees. It is a type of cocktail menu where alcohol is mixed with a regular beverage base. In accordance with the prohibition of alcohol sales to minors under 19 years old, customers ordering alcoholic beverages at the store must have their ID cards checked by partners.

While Starbucks has sold beer at stores within golf courses before, this is the first time that partners (baristas) at a regular store will directly prepare and sell alcoholic beverages.

In July last year, Starbucks sold lager-type beer at the Starbucks Jayu CC (Country Club) store in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do. The beer was made by Devils Door, a craft beer pub operated by Shinsegae Food, a Shinsegae Group affiliate, and blended with Starbucks coffee beans to give it a unique coffee aroma.
