Hoban Construction Group Expands Social Contribution Activities Including Scholarship Programs and Employee Volunteer Work

Hoban Construction Group's Hoban Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Sang-yeol) held the '2024 Hoban Scholarship Award Ceremony' in February at Hoban Park Building 2 (Hoban Construction Group headquarters) in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The ceremony was attended by Kim Sang-yeol, Chairman of the Hoban Scholarship Foundation, Woo Hyun-hee, Chairman of the Hoban Cultural Foundation, scholarship recipients, Kim Seon-gyu, Chairman of Hoban Group, and executives and employees of Hoban Construction.

This year, the Hoban Scholarship Foundation is supporting a total of 300 students with 900 million KRW in scholarships. At the ceremony, scholarship certificates and funds were awarded to the newly selected 'Hobanhoe' scholarship students. Hobanhoe scholars receive tuition support for four years after entering university and participate in various programs operated by the Hoban Scholarship Foundation. In addition, the foundation plans to continue scholarship projects to support future innovative talents, such as the 'Local Talent Scholarship.'

Kim Sang-yeol, Chairman of the Hoban Scholarship Foundation, said, "This year marks the 25th anniversary of the foundation, and I am pleased to meet many outstanding scholarship students more than ever before. I hope they will remember today as the day they took their first strong step toward their dreams and grow into leaders of our society."

2024 scholarship student Lim Hyeong-jun expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank the Hoban Scholarship Foundation and Chairman Kim Sang-yeol for believing in our potential and giving us encouragement and opportunities to pursue our dreams. My dream is to become a legal professional who positively influences society, and I will work hard to achieve that dream and become a support for someone."

Meanwhile, the Hoban Scholarship Foundation was established in 1999 by Chairman Kim Sang-yeol (founder of Hoban Construction) with his personal funds. Since then, it has consistently carried out scholarship projects, talent development, and academic research support. Over 25 years, the foundation has nurtured more than 9,200 scholarship students, with total scholarship funds amounting to 16.3 billion KRW.

Last month, Hoban Construction Group, led by its employee volunteer group 'Hoban Sarang Nanum-i,' conducted a 'Love Blood Donation Campaign' at Hoban Park (Hoban Construction Group headquarters) in Seocho-gu, Seoul, as well as at the factories of Daehan Electric Wire and Power Equipment. About 100 employees from Hoban Construction, Daehan Electric Wire, and other Hoban Construction Group affiliates participated in the campaign.

Along with the blood donation campaign, Hoban Construction Group established the 'H-Blood Donation Fund (Heart-Blood Donation Fund)' in collaboration with Hanmaeum Blood Center and Seocho-gu Volunteer Center. The H-Blood Donation Fund manages blood donation certificates collected through the campaign in fund form by Hanmaeum Blood Center, and the Seocho-gu Volunteer Center supports patients in the district using the fund.

Hoban Construction Group accumulated 100 blood donation certificates from this campaign and added 500 certificates held by Hanmaeum Blood Center, creating an H-Blood Donation Fund totaling 600 certificates. Using this fund, they plan to assist economically disadvantaged patients in Seocho-gu in cooperation with the Seocho-gu Volunteer Center until the end of this year. Furthermore, Hoban Construction Group intends to increase the fund by collaborating with like-minded companies and organizations, gradually expanding the beneficiary areas and recipients.

Kim Yumi, Director of the Seocho-gu Volunteer Center, said, "We hope the H-Blood Donation Fund will provide practical help to patients in Seocho-gu who need financial support. We will actively support ensuring that the valuable blood donation certificates from Hoban Construction Group employees are used where they are most needed."

Meanwhile, the Love Blood Donation Campaign has been one of the social contribution activities that Hoban Construction Group has steadily conducted at Daehan Electric Wire since 2013. Hoban Construction Group is expanding the campaign throughout the group in collaboration with Daehan Electric Wire, striving to practice neighborly love.
