Creating a Blue Gwangyang: Establishing the Taeindong Gamdong Garden

Partnership Agreement Between Local Organizations and the Blue Citizen Movement

On the 25th, Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do signed a business agreement ceremony with local community organizations (Taein-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee, Tongjang Council, Development Council, Youth Association) as part of the 'Making Green Gwangyang' civic movement and held the 'Creating Taein-dong Impression Garden' event.

'Making Green Gwangyang' is a project aimed at creating a pleasant green city by forming a public consensus on the public value and importance of forests. On this day, residents took the initiative to improve the local environment by cultivating village roadsides and village gardens together.

About 20 participants, including members of the Tongjang Council, Youth Association, and Taein-dong staff, engaged in weeding, fertilizing, and cleaning activities over an area of approximately 500㎡.

Going forward, plans are in place to create beautiful and pleasant impression gardens along major village roads and coastal roads in collaboration with local community organizations and residents.

Starting with this business agreement ceremony, Taein-dong and each partner organization joined forces to expand the 『Making Green Gwangyang, Creating Taein-dong Impression Garden』 civic movement and realize Gwangyang City's key plan of a carbon-neutral green city.

Cho Hee-su, head of Taein-dong, said, “I am grateful to the social organizations and residents who actively participated in the ‘Creating Taein-dong Impression Garden’ event despite their busy schedules,” and added, “We will continue to hold such events with local residents to create impression gardens where people can have healing and recharging time.”
