[Polpol News] President Yoon's Approval Rating Rises 1%p to 24%... Gallup "Rounded to Nearest Decimal"

Support Rate Remains in the 20% Range After General Election Defeat
People Power Party's Support Rate Improves by 3%p to 33%

President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating, which plummeted after the crushing defeat in the general election, has slightly rebounded, but the overall atmosphere since the sharp decline continues.

According to a regular public opinion poll released on the 26th by Gallup Korea (conducted from the 23rd to the 25th, targeting 1,001 nationwide respondents aged 18 and over through face-to-face interviews using mobile phones), President Yoon's approval rating rose by 1 percentage point from the previous survey to 24%. Negative evaluations that he is doing poorly dropped by 3 percentage points to 65%.

After last week's 11 percentage point drop in approval rating, the downward trend has temporarily halted, but it is difficult to say that the approval rating has rebounded. Gallup explained, "The change in this figure is within the margin of error, making it difficult to assign significance," adding, "The 1 percentage point change in the positive job evaluation is due to rounding below the decimal point." In other words, the trend is virtually similar to last week's approval rating.

In terms of party support, the People Power Party, which was defeated in the general election, saw its support rise by 3 percentage points to 33%, while the winning Democratic Party's support dropped by 2 percentage points to 29%. The National Innovation Party fell by 1 percentage point to 13%, and the Reform Party remained the same at 3%.

Meanwhile, regarding the financial investment income tax, which imposes a 20-25% tax on the amount exceeding 50 million KRW annually from capital gains on domestic stocks, funds, bonds, and other financial products, 44% of respondents supported its implementation, while 38% opposed it. The arguments between the two sides were sharply divided within the margin of error (±3.1 percentage points). Eighteen percent withheld their opinion.
