Park Ju-min, Democratic Party Floor Leader Election Withdrawal... "Will Consider My Role"

"I Will Do My Best as the Last Chief Deputy Floor Leader"

Park Ju-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, has announced that he will not run in the upcoming floor leader election.

On the afternoon of the 25th, Park sent a notice to the press corps stating, "I will not run in this floor leader election," and added, "I will continue to consider my role to ensure that the Democratic Party meets the expectations of the people."

Park said, "As the last floor deputy leader of the 21st National Assembly, I will do my best until the end in fulfilling my duties, including the special investigation law on the Marine Corps death incident, the amendment to the special law on jeonse fraud, and the passage of the Itaewon special law," and urged, "The mission of the 22nd National Assembly is grave. We must properly reform the power institutions and achieve tangible results in livelihood agendas and innovation growth agendas."

The Democratic Party began the candidate registration process for the new floor leader election on the same day, with registration closing on the 26th. If only one candidate runs in this floor leader election, the party will decide the election outcome by a yes-or-no vote at the April 10 general election winners' meeting scheduled for next month on the 3rd.

With Park and other potential candidates such as Kim Min-seok, Seo Young-kyo, and Kim Seong-hwan withdrawing from the race, the atmosphere is leaning toward Park Chan-dae becoming the first floor leader of the 22nd National Assembly for the Democratic Party. Park announced that he submitted his candidate registration documents on the day.
