Cheonan Prison Employee Suspended...Prosecutors Conduct Search and Seizure
It has been revealed that a current correctional officer is under investigation by the prosecution for receiving money and goods from an inmate.
According to Cheonan Correctional Institution on the 25th, Officer A was found to have received 30 million won from an inmate, and the case was referred to the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office for investigation.
It is known that Officer A provided alcohol and cigarettes in exchange for the money and goods.
The Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office conducted a search and seizure at Cheonan Correctional Institution on the 28th of last month. The correctional institution decided to suspend Officer A from duty on the 29th, the day after the search.
A representative from Cheonan Correctional Institution stated, "Since the matter is under investigation, we cannot provide detailed information," and added, "We plan to take strict measures based on the results of the investigation."
