Consistent Blood Donation Since 2005... Soldiers and Civilian Employees Leading the Way in Practicing Neighborly Love

The Air Force 1st Fighter Wing is taking the lead in showing love for neighbors through a spring blood donation campaign.

The 1st Fighter Wing, together with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Red Cross Blood Center, has been conducting the blood donation campaign since the 23rd. This blood donation will continue until the 26th.

This love blood donation campaign was promoted to personally practice love for neighbors and contribute to a stable blood supply.

The 1st Fighter Wing and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Red Cross Blood Center deployed blood donation vehicles at three major facilities of the unit to encourage active participation of soldiers in blood donation. Faced with the blood donation vehicles, soldiers voluntarily rolled up their sleeves and participated in the blood donation.

Lt. Col. Oh Tae-hoon (Acting) of the 1st Fighter Wing Aviation Medical Battalion said, “Blood cannot be artificially produced, so blood donation is the only way to save the lives of patients in need of blood,” adding, “We will continue the love blood donation campaign and fulfill our mission as the people’s military that protects the lives of the nation.”

Meanwhile, since signing an agreement with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Red Cross Blood Center in 2005, the 1st Fighter Wing has been steadily conducting blood donation campaigns every year, and in the blood donation campaign held last February, 332 soldiers participated in sharing life.

Additionally, with an average of over 1,000 participants annually in the blood donation campaign, the wing was recognized for greatly contributing to resolving the blood supply shortage caused by the COVID-19 situation and received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare in July last year.
