Yeosu City Wins Grand Prize in National Representative Brand MICE Industry City Category

Differentiated Marketing Efforts Raise Awareness of MICE Brand

Emerging as a MICE Hub with 1,356 MICE Events Hosted

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 25th that it won the Grand Prize in the MICE Industry City category at the ‘2024 National Representative Brand Awards’ held at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel.


The ‘National Representative Brand Awards’ is an award jointly researched and evaluated by Maeil Business Newspaper Media Group and the Consumer Brand Evaluation Institute, sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It is given to brands that have increased consumer trust through creative strategies.

Under the 8th elected administration, Yeosu City has raised awareness of the Yeosu MICE brand through multifaceted and differentiated marketing efforts such as hosting MICE-related forums, signing a business agreement with the Korea MICE Association, and being selected as a Korea Unique Venue (Yeulmaru & Jangdo).


Additionally, the city expanded its hosting of academic and association events, corporate meetings, and overseas incentive tours, strengthened its competitiveness in the overseas MICE market by signing business agreements with major overseas travel agencies (12 agencies in 2 countries), and attracted overseas corporate events.


In particular, last year, Yeosu hosted a record-breaking 1,356 MICE events, emerging as a true mecca of the MICE industry and leading the revitalization of the local economy.


Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu stated, “We are making multifaceted efforts to develop Yeosu into a global MICE city,” and added, “Based on the abundant infrastructure our city possesses, including Korea Unique Venues, tourism, transportation, and accommodation, we will foster the revival of the MICE industry and develop Yeosu into a global MICE mecca.”
