Busan Office of Education, Idea Contest for Reducing and Streamlining School Work

Best Practices, Immediate Application in School Settings

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yun-su) announced on the 25th that it will hold the "School Work Reduction and Efficiency Improvement Idea Contest" for employees of institutions and schools under the Office of Education until the 20th of next month.

This contest, held together with the education community, aims to discover excellent cases and ideas that contribute to reducing school work. The goal is to reduce the workload at school sites and create a school culture focused on educational activities.

The Office of Education is calling for submissions in two categories: ▲ "Excellent Cases" that have generalizable value based on application results at school sites ▲ programs for work efficiency and automation, and school work division models.

Those wishing to participate can submit their materials through the contest popup window on the "Busan School Support Service (BSSS)" website.

The Office of Education will select 10 teams through document screening and on-site verification: 1 grand prize team, 3 excellence prize teams, and 6 encouragement prize teams. The grand prize winner will receive gift certificates worth approximately 500,000 KRW, the excellence prize winners 300,000 KRW, and the encouragement prize winners 100,000 KRW each.

Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "The excellent cases and ideas selected in this contest will be immediately applied on-site to allow schools to focus solely on educational activities," and added, "We ask for the active interest and participation of the education community."

Based on ideas discovered in last year’s contest, the Office of Education has developed two school work automation programs, including the "School Schedule System Construction Program" and the "Absence Report Table Creation Program," to support workload reduction at school sites. In particular, it has made efforts to reduce the total volume of school administrative work by establishing the nation’s first dedicated school support organization, the "School Administration Support Headquarters."
