'Agreement on Enhancing Traffic Safety and Improving Traffic Environment'
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it signed a "Business Agreement for the Improvement of Traffic Safety and Traffic Environment in Yongin City" on the 24th with five organizations, including Yongin East and West Police Stations, the Southern Gyeonggi Headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, the Gyeonggi Branch of the Road Traffic Authority, and the Yongin Driver's License Examination Office of the Road Traffic Authority, to establish a safe traffic culture.

The signing ceremony held at the Yongin City Hall reception room was attended by Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin City, Kim Byeong-rok, Chief of Yongin West Police Station, Hwang Ho-man, Head of Traffic Division at Yongin East Police Station, Jo Jeong-gwon, Director of the Southern Gyeonggi Headquarters of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Kwon Ki-hwan, Head of the Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters of the Road Traffic Authority, and Jeong Yeon-cheol, Director of the Yongin Driver's License Examination Office of the Road Traffic Authority.
According to the agreement, the six organizations will cooperate over the next two years to strengthen traffic safety prioritizing pedestrians and vulnerable road users and to create a safe road environment to prevent traffic accidents.
They also agreed to make efforts to inform citizens about safety rules to ensure compliance with traffic regulations and to conduct traffic safety education targeting transportation workers and private organizations. Additionally, they will join forces to improve the traffic environment around the semiconductor national advanced strategic project specialized complex, a key project of the city, and to seek traffic safety measures.
Mayor Lee Sang-il said, "Yongin City, which has grown into a large city with a population of 1.1 million, is experiencing an increasing trend in traffic accidents," and added, "We expect that citizens' traffic safety will be further enhanced through this agreement."
