Secured 870 Parking Spaces Near Jinju Fortress and Registered on Map App to Provide Parking Convenience
Jinju City in Gyeongnam will open and operate four temporary parking lots to provide parking convenience for citizens and tourists visiting the ‘23rd Jinju Nongae Festival,’ Jinju’s representative spring festival, held for four days from May 3 to 6.
The Jinju Nongae Festival, held around Jinju Fortress and the Namgang River, is a festival where visitors can enjoy and experience the unique 교장 culture of Jinju while commemorating the loyalty and spirit of Jinju, including the patriotic martyr Nongae who sacrificed herself at Jinju Fortress during the Imjin War, along with 70,000 civilians, government officials, and military personnel.
As traffic congestion around the festival site is expected due to many citizens and out-of-town tourists visiting the festival, the city plans to open four temporary parking lots to provide parking convenience for visitors.
The locations of the temporary parking lots are Nabulcheon Covered Road (near 274-10, Namseong-dong), Insadong Public Parking Lot (163-1, Insadong), Education Support Office Parking Lot (14-9, Jungang-dong), and Jinju Public Sports Stadium (1-1, Sinan-dong). There are a total of 870 parking spaces, which will be open free of charge during the festival period. However, the Education Support Office parking lot will open from 4:30 p.m. on May 3 to accommodate visitors to the Education Support Office. The city plans to register the four temporary parking lots on map apps so that visitors can easily find and use them.
During the festival, about 360 members of the National Model Drivers Association Gyeongnam Jinju Branch and the Jinju Autonomous Crime Prevention Union will volunteer to ensure traffic safety and order for visitors, and city parking enforcement officers will actively crack down on illegal parking and promote traffic order around the event site during the festival period.
A city official said, “We will do our best to provide parking convenience and ensure traffic safety so that visitors to the Jinju Nongae Festival can enjoy the festival comfortably and safely,” and added, “We ask citizens to actively cooperate by complying with parking and traffic rules and using public transportation for the successful hosting of the festival.”
