The 'Future Development Committee,' an advisory body directly under the mayor of Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, was launched on the 23rd.
The Seongnam Future Development Committee will consist of 35 experts from various fields, including lawyers, professors, and private specialists, who will provide policy advice for designing Seongnam's future over the next two years.
In particular, the committee will be responsible for advising, recommending, and proposing matters related to Seongnam's future development strategy formulation, mid- to long-term development plans, major policies and current issues, as well as innovation in city administration and administrative improvements.
Members of Seongnam City's Future Development Committee, launched on the 23rd, are taking a commemorative photo after the inauguration ceremony.
Shin Sang-jin, mayor of Seongnam, stated, "The Future Development Committee will serve as a core axis in the administration of the 8th elected term and will play a pivotal role in shaping Seongnam's future," adding, "We will reflect the future vision and strategies derived through the committee in city administration to seize new opportunities for Seongnam's leap forward."
He also urged the committee members to "actively engage in activities for the development of Seongnam City based on their professional knowledge and experience."
Following the establishment of the City Administration Research Institute in July last year and the appointment of the ESG Policy Advisory Group in November of the same year, Seongnam is diversifying channels for preparing future visions and strategies across various fields with the launch of the Future Development Committee.
