On this day, Korea Housing Finance Corporation will deliver a sponsorship fund of 220 million KRW for the establishment of the Our Neighborhood Social Value Management (ESG) Center and related projects.
The sponsorship fund will be used to smoothly promote four donation agreement projects: ▲Our Neighborhood Social Value Management (ESG) Center establishment project ▲Visiting Social Value Management (ESG) on-site education project ▲Support project for low-income grandparent-headed households ▲Busan Silver Film Festival supporters group ‘BSIF Youth Diary’.
Through this, 231 jobs including senior jobs are planned to be created.
The city has achieved visible results in creating senior jobs and realizing carbon neutrality through the Our Neighborhood Social Value Management Center establishment project and the Visiting Social Value Management on-site education project.
The Our Neighborhood Social Value Management Center opened its first branch in 2022 and the second in 2023, creating 870 senior jobs over the past two years, collecting 15 tons of waste plastic, and reducing carbon emissions by 19 tons.
Additionally, through the production and sale of eco-friendly products, it recorded sales of 270 million KRW and accumulated 30 million KRW in senior job funds.
Also, by utilizing senior environmental docents, environmental education, toy disassembly experiences, and climate crisis cooking experiences were provided to daycare centers, kindergartens, and elementary schools, engaging 3,709 children in carbon neutrality activities. A total of 5,447 people visited the Our Neighborhood Social Value Management Center, including 1,738 benchmarking visitors from institutions such as Incheon City and Jeju Island.
Last October, it was also selected as a core comprehensive support (anchor) facility for the ‘15-minute city’ pledge of the 8th local government administration.
Furthermore, in the case of the Visiting Social Value Management on-site education project, 30 seniors who completed the carbon neutrality education specialist training course conducted on-site education for a total of 2,506 people through 259 visits to 28 institutions including national and public daycare centers, kindergartens, elementary and middle schools, local children’s centers, and community care centers in the Busan area.
This year, the city will establish and promote a plan for the Our Neighborhood Social Value Management (ESG) Center establishment project focusing on five core projects. The plan is to expand the Our Neighborhood Social Value Management Centers mainly in the old downtown area and complete a resource circulation platform through the establishment of a plastic collection system.
The five core projects of the 2024 Our Neighborhood Social Value Management Center establishment project are: ① Selection and opening of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th branches in Haeundae-gu, Yeongdo-gu, and Jung-gu respectively ② Formation and operation of the Our Neighborhood Plastic Resource Circulation Group ③ Formation and operation of a dedicated plastic collection organization ④ Operation of intermediate and base plastic collection centers ⑤ Selection of executing agencies.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon said, “Through this agreement, we plan to additionally open the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Our Neighborhood Social Value Management (ESG) Centers this year,” and added, “We will continue to create eco-friendly senior jobs and realize the social value of connecting generations, doing our best to make Busan a ‘safe and sound city’ for everyone in the future.”
