Nowon-gu 'Baeksamaeul Management Disposition Plan' Approved... District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends Signing Ceremony

Nowon-gu 'Baeksamaeul Management Disposition Plan' Approved... District Mayor Oh Seung-rok Attends Signing Ceremony

On the 24th at 11 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, the mayor of Nowon District, held the 'Baeksa Village Management Disposition Plan Approval Signing Ceremony' in the mayor's office of Nowon District Office in Seoul.

Baeksa Village was formed in the late 1960s when demolition victims relocated due to the development of central Seoul areas such as Yongsan, Cheonggyecheon, and Anam-dong. In 1971, it was designated as a greenbelt area, causing residential conditions to gradually deteriorate. Although the greenbelt designation was lifted in 2008 and the area was designated as a housing redevelopment maintenance zone the following year, redevelopment faced difficulties due to the project implementer's withdrawal and resident conflicts.

However, after persistent efforts by the district, the maintenance plan was approved by the Seoul City Urban Planning Committee in May 2019. On March 15, the district completed the feasibility verification of the management disposition plan by the Korea Real Estate Board and approved the housing redevelopment project management disposition plan. This is the first approval in 15 years since the Junggye-dong 104 area was designated as a housing redevelopment maintenance zone in 2009.

Baeksa Village plans to complete resident relocation this year and begin demolition. Construction is scheduled to start in 2025 and be completed by 2028, aiming for a rebirth as a premium residential complex.

The 'Baeksa Village Management Disposition Plan Approval' signing ceremony was attended by Oh Seung-rok, mayor of Nowon District, Hwang Jin-sook, chairperson of the Junggye Bon-dong Housing Redevelopment Project Residents' Representative Meeting, along with nine residents and officials from Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation. The event proceeded with the signing ceremony followed by a commemorative photo session.

Oh Seung-rok, mayor of Nowon District, stated, “Baeksa Village represents the deteriorated residential environment of Nowon and is approaching the culmination of long efforts. Starting with Baeksa Village, we will spare no support to ensure that the redevelopment and reconstruction projects, the district’s largest issues, proceed smoothly.”
