On this day, former Pukyong National University President Kang Nam-ju presented scholarship certificates totaling 18.78 million KRW to 26 international students selected as scholarship recipients from countries including the United States, China, Japan, Italy, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

The Namchon Scholarship was established with a development fund of 300 million KRW donated in 2021 by former National Assembly member Yoo Heung-soo, who wished to nurture outstanding local talents. At that time, former President Kang Nam-ju contributed to securing the scholarship fund.

Pukyong National University has annually selected outstanding talents expected to play active roles in the region and awarded the Namchon Scholarship. This year, to support the settlement and academic pursuits of international students in the region, 26 students with excellent academic records were selected and each received a living support scholarship ranging from 600,000 to 800,000 KRW.

As of April, Pukyong National University has 1,678 international students from 71 countries enrolled in undergraduate, master's, doctoral, integrated master's and doctoral programs, exchange student programs, and language training courses.

Since 2014, Pukyong National University has been continuously selected as a university certified for internationalization capacity by the Ministry of Education, and last year, it received certification for both degree programs and language training courses through 2026.
