Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced on the afternoon of the 24th that it conducted the "2024 Chungmu Training Exhibition Rice Distribution Actual Drill" around Yangcheon Park.
Chungmu Training is a comprehensive exercise led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety since 1981, involving 5 to 6 metropolitan cities, provinces, military units, and police each year to verify the effectiveness of wartime preparedness plans and to check the mobilization readiness of national resources in emergencies.
Among these, the wartime rice distribution drill, one of the actual exercises, is a joint civil-military-police training involving related organizations such as the military, police, and fire departments. It aims to cultivate response capabilities to anticipated food shortages and regional supply imbalances during national emergencies.
In the drill held that day, about 200 participants from relevant district office departments and the Seoul Yangcheon Police Station engaged in exercises simulating wartime situations, including rice transportation, distribution center setup, distribution, and implementation of contingency alert measures. After the Chungmu Training, 400 kg of rice used in the exercise will be donated to the Yangcheon Sarang Welfare Foundation to be distributed to vulnerable groups.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, "Through this training, we will do our best to develop the capability to respond quickly and accurately in the event of a national emergency to protect the safety of our residents."
