Actively gathering field opinions following continuous expansion of education expense subsidies
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will hold parent meetings for elementary and middle school parents over four days from April 22 to 26 to operate education expense subsidies that resonate with the recipients.
Dongdaemun-gu has continuously expanded the scale of education expense subsidies, maintaining the highest level among autonomous districts, increasing from 8 billion KRW in 2022, 10 billion KRW in 2023, to 12 billion KRW in 2024.
This parent meeting was organized to listen to the opinions of the actual users, the parents (students), and to provide effective educational support that beneficiaries can feel.
The meetings are held in four sessions, dividing elementary and middle schools into two zones each, and are conducted as on-site meetings at schools to encourage free exchange of opinions, moving away from rigid and formal atmospheres.
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung attended the elementary school Zone 1 meeting (Yongsin, Jegi, Cheongnyangni, Hoegi, Huigyeong, Imun) held on the 22nd at Seoul Cheongnyang Elementary School, and the elementary school Zone 2 meeting (Jeonnong, Dapsimni, Jangan) held the next day at Seoul Dapsimni Elementary School. He exchanged various opinions with parents on matters that should be prioritized, such as school route safety, and educational activities needed by students and parents.
Mayor Lee said, "The opinions gathered at this meeting will be a valuable foundation for implementing education-related policies. We will collect various opinions on the environment in which our children want to receive education and grow, and support them in every way so that students can have diverse experiences in a safe space. We will do our best to create the best educational environment so that no one leaves Dongdaemun-gu because of education."
Meanwhile, the middle school parent meetings will be held on April 25 and 26 at Daekwang Middle School and Jangpyeong Middle School.
