Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the ‘Gwangjin Family Festival’ at Children’s Grand Park on May 25th to celebrate Family Month in May and the 29th Gwangjin Residents' Day.
The Gwangjin Family Festival, held at the Guminmun Lawn Square, will begin with the Gwangjin Residents' Day commemorative ceremony, followed by ▲ family essay and drawing contests ▲ family film festival in sequence.
First, the family essay and drawing contests are open to Gwangjin residents, students attending local schools, and workers in the area. Participants can choose between poetry and prose for the essay contest, which is divided into ▲ elementary school division ▲ youth division ▲ general division ▲ literacy and multicultural division. The drawing contest is divided into kindergarten and elementary school divisions.
The themes will be announced on-site on the day of the event, and the selection of winners and award ceremonies for each category will be held separately in June.
The essay and drawing contests will recruit 700 participants through online pre-registration, and up to 200 additional participants can join on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the event.
The Gwangjin Family Film Festival will screen two films, ‘Super Mario Brothers’ and ‘The Boss Baby 2,’ and anyone can freely participate without prior registration.
In addition, Gwangjin-gu plans to offer a variety of attractions and activities such as a self-photo studio, calligraphy, and celebratory performances. A district official requested that participants use public transportation or walk to ensure smooth festival operations on the day of the event.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We prepared the Gwangjin Family Festival to promote harmony among families and create a cultural space where various generations can freely interact. We hope everyone enjoys the festival and spends precious time with their families and neighbors.”
