The police have launched an investigation into a medical student who allegedly forced another student to take a leave of absence.
According to the police on the 24th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul is investigating a Hanyang University medical student case, assigned by the National Police Agency, on charges of coercion and obstruction of business related to inducing a leave of absence. The student is accused of forcing another student to take a leave of absence and preventing their return to classes under the pretext of "prohibiting sharing of exam materials."
Earlier, on the 21st, the Ministry of Education announced, "An incident occurred at a medical school in the metropolitan area where a 'Medical TF Team' demanded medical students continue to collectively refuse classes even after classes resumed," and stated it would request a police investigation.
The TF team specified that if a student participates in classes against the 'collective action pledge,' they would be required to publicly apologize face-to-face and be denied access to exam materials. Attendance verification was required not only for in-person lectures and clinical practice but also for online classes.
