At the report meeting, 11 key figures including Kim Gwang-yeol, the mayor of Yeongdeok-gun, and Son Deok-su, the chairman of Yeongdeok-gun Council, attended to review the main details of the renovation work and inspect the stage control system.

Yeju Culture and Arts Center opened in 2004 as a multipurpose performance hall and has been used as an important space supporting various performances as well as cultural and artistic activities for residents. However, after 20 years since its opening, a detailed safety diagnosis of the stage machinery control devices revealed the need for facility improvements and repairs.

Accordingly, the county established a basic plan in August 2022 and secured a budget of 5.4 billion KRW last year to carry out renovation work aimed at ensuring the safety of the performance hall’s operation. The project focused on installing top-tier equipment such as stage machinery control devices, acoustic reflectors, sound systems, heating and cooling facilities, video equipment, and rooftop waterproofing to create effective stage production and a comfortable viewing environment.

In particular, the stage machinery drive units and sound facilities were completely replaced to build the best system among performance halls in Gyeongbuk Province, creating an environment where performers can showcase their skills under optimal stage conditions and provide high-quality performances to the audience.

Mayor Kim Gwang-yeol stated, “As Yeju Culture and Arts Center is loved by many, it is a facility directly related to the safety of residents, so the renovation was carried out in accordance with the characteristics and purpose of the space. I hope that through a better performance environment, it will become an excellent motivation for self-development with richness and creativity that allows people to enjoy culture and arts in their daily lives.”

The newly renovated Yeju Culture and Arts Center will make its debut at the 20th anniversary commemorative performance, the ‘Yeongdeok-gun New Year Music Concert,’ on the 25th.
