Dong-A University’s Park Yae-eun Wins Excellence Award for Poster Presentation at Academic Conference

Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Textile Engineering and the Korean Society of Dyeing and Finishing

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 24th that Park Ye-eun, a master's student in the Department of Clothing and Textiles at the Graduate School, received the Excellent Poster Presentation Award at the '2024 Spring Joint Conference of the Korean Society of Textile Engineering and the Korean Society of Dyeing and Finishing.'

The Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Textile Engineering was held to provide a forum for experts working in industries, research institutes, and universities to discuss the future direction of science and technology in textiles and related fields.

The conference, recently held at the Jeju International Convention Center, provided an opportunity for experts in various fields to discuss new perspectives and technological trends in foundational industries such as environment, energy, high-performance industrial materials, and composite materials.

The title of the research paper by master's student Park, who received the excellence award that day, is "Characteristics of PLA/Light Weight PLA Composites Manufactured by Dual-Nozzle FDM 3D Printing Process."

This research was conducted by Professor Lee Sun-hee (Department of Fashion Design, Graduate School of Clothing and Textiles) and master's student Park Ye-eun at Dong-A University as a mid-career research project supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

In this paper, Professor Lee and master's student Park achieved results confirming the characteristics of composite materials according to extrusion temperature and infill density by using ‘PLA’ and ‘Light Weight PLA’ filaments, which are 3D printing materials, to develop composite materials with a dual-nozzle FDM 3D printer.

Master's student Park said, "Thanks to my advisor’s generous support, I was able to actively engage in the research and achieve good results, for which I am very grateful. I will continue to work hard to apply composite material 3D printing technology to the fashion industry."
