Selected for 10 Consecutive Years in the Regional Premium Brand Category
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that ‘Boseong Green Tea’ has won the Grand Prize in the Regional Premium Brand category of the ‘2024 Korea Prestigious Brand Awards’ for 10 consecutive years.
At the awards ceremony held on the 23rd at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, hosted by the Korea Consumer Association, Boseong Green Tea was recognized for its significant contribution to regional development as a representative local specialty product of Korea.
The Korea Prestigious Brand Awards are selected through expert evaluations of brand strategies, systems, and management performance, as well as consumer brand awareness surveys, for products that represent Korea, lead the market, and have built a strong reputation.
Boseong Green Tea was registered as the first geographical indication in the agricultural products sector in 2002, certifying its historical significance and excellent quality.
Since 2009, Boseong-gun has obtained international organic certifications from the United States (USDA), Europe (EU), and Japan (JAS) to produce safe food trusted by consumers, establishing itself as a prestigious brand representing Korea through strict quality control.
Additionally, Boseong-gun was recognized for its operational achievements in attracting businesses related to green tea, increasing residents’ income, and revitalizing the local economy, leading to its designation as an excellent industrial special zone. It received the Prime Minister’s Group Commendation in 2012, 2014, and 2019. In 2018, the ‘Boseong Traditional Tea Agricultural System’ was designated as Korea’s Important Agricultural Heritage No. 11, acknowledging its historical and excellent value.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “This year, we exported 6,000 units of three types of blended tea to Singapore and 1.8 tons of powdered green tea to Ireland,” adding, “We will also enhance our competitiveness in overseas markets so that Boseong Green Tea, recognized as a prestigious brand for 10 long years, can establish itself as a prestigious brand representing not only Korea but the entire world.”
Meanwhile, from May 3 to 7, Boseong-gun plans to hold a grand festival under the theme ‘The Temptation of a Thousand-Year Tea, Boseong’s Proposal,’ integrating events such as the Boseong Dahyang Grand Festival, Boseong Citizens’ Day, Seopyeonje Boseong Sound Festival, Illimsan Azalea Cultural Event, Children’s Day, Green Tea Marathon, National Yacht Competition Daily Concert, and Drone Light Show.
