This project, initiated in 2021 as part of the sewage treatment area expansion and living environment improvement efforts, has doubled the daily treatment capacity of the Songgye sewage treatment facility from 400 tons to 800 tons through this expansion.
With this expansion, the sewage treatment area has been extended to 10 rural villages across three myeon: Songgye, Susan, Sangbong, and Daejuk-ri in Seolseong-myeon; Gunryang-ri in Daewol-myeon; and Yangpyeong-ri in Moga-myeon, which is expected to improve the water quality of the discharge river. During the expansion process, the city also created a parking lot for local residents on idle land within the sewage treatment plant.
An official from Icheon City stated, "We will continue to expand public sewage treatment facilities to improve the living environment for residents."
