12 Eupmyeon Tours 'County Residents' Happiness, Policy Talk' Promotion
Explanation of Key Projects Including Marine Healing Industry and Dialogue with Residents
Shin Woo-cheol, the governor of Wando County, is promoting the ‘Citizen Happiness, Policy Talk’ by touring 12 towns and townships to directly listen to the voices of residents and address current issues.
According to the county on the 24th, the ‘Citizen Happiness, Policy Talk’ was prepared to share county administration with residents and to strengthen communication administration and accelerate regional development by encouraging residents to actively participate in county affairs.
Starting with Bogil-myeon and Nohwa-eup on the 22nd, the schedule is as follows: Yaksan-myeon on the 24th, Saengil-myeon and Geumil-eup on the 25th, Gunoe-myeon and Sinji-myeon on the 26th, Wando-eup and Geumdang-myeon on the 29th, and Geogeum-myeon on the 30th. Cheongsan-myeon and Soan-myeon were postponed due to weather conditions and will be held in May.

The policy talk proceeds in the order of reporting on town and township administration, reporting on major county policies for 2024, and dialogue with residents.
Governor Shin explained the marine healing industry, including the Marine Healing Center, which was the first of its kind to open domestically last year, the strategy to develop the entire county into a ‘Healing Island,’ and the current status of the marine bioindustry through the 2024 major county policy report.
Additionally, he discussed plans for creating a marine wellness tourism city, large-scale national projects such as the National Subtropical Arboretum and the National Marine Fisheries Museum, SOC projects including the construction of the Gwangju-Wando Expressway, fostering sustainable agriculture, livestock, and fisheries industries in response to climate change, and welfare policies, seeking ways for regional development together with residents.
After the policy talk, inspections are planned at key project sites in the Bogil, Nohwa, and Yaksan areas, disaster prevention project sites in Gunoe and Soan, and major project sites such as the Wando County Resource Management Center.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “We will carefully review the valuable opinions of residents and actively reflect them in county administration to speed up related projects,” adding, “We will continue to have communication time with residents to improve their quality of life and promote regional development.”
