Participation in the World's Largest Industrial Textile Exhibition 'Techtextil'
Kolon Industries announced on the 24th that it will present a sustainable future through carbon reduction technology and eco-friendly products at 'Techtextil 2024,' the world's largest industrial textile exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany, for four days until the 26th. Kolon Industries will showcase ▲ aramid (product name Heracron®) ▲ PET (Polyester) filament nonwoven fabric (product names Finon® & Finon Eco) ▲ PET suede (product names Chamude® & Chamude Eco).
Techtextil is the world's largest exhibition introducing innovative materials and technologies for various industrial textiles. Since its first event in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1986, it has been held every two years. This year, over 1,300 companies from 50 countries worldwide are participating. More than 40,000 visitors are expected.
Kolon Industries plans to share innovative cases of its core product, aramid, with customers.
At the end of last year, Kolon Industries expanded aramid production capacity to 15,310 tons through a double-up expansion. Additionally, by actively applying digital transformation to its processes, it is contributing to enhancing customer value through ▲ improved delivery times ▲ maximized quality control ▲ carbon reduction via energy monitoring.
Aramid pulp is planned to be launched as a product that reduces carbon emissions by 30% through energy efficiency. By increasing aramid pulp production by 1,500 tons, the production volume is expected to expand to 3,000 tons in the second half of this year.
Kolon Industries will also introduce eco-friendly products made from recycled raw materials derived from used water bottles (PET).
PET filament nonwoven fabric is expanding its market share in the European market, mainly for carpet applications, through global eco-friendly certifications (GRS, EPD). In the future, the market will be expanded to filtration materials, flooring, and automotive interior materials, focusing on the North American and European markets.
PET suede emphasizes product eco-friendliness in the European market based on GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification and Oeko-Tex (standard for potential harmful substances) certification. It is expanding customer touchpoints in the automotive interior and interior material markets.
Choi Young-baek, Head of Business at Kolon Industries, said, "We participated in this exhibition as we believe it will be a great opportunity to widely promote Kolon Industries' differentiated technology in the textile field to the global market," adding, "The European market is leading changes related to eco-friendliness, and we plan to actively promote our sustainability implementation technologies."
