Google and Nvidia AI Experts to Attend... The National Institute of Technology and Standards under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced that on the afternoon of the 24th, it will co-host an AI International Standards Open Workshop with the AI International Standardization Committee (ISO/IEC JTC1 SC42, hereinafter SC42), jointly established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Members' Meeting Room.


This event is a special public event as part of the first-ever SC42 plenary meeting held in Korea, providing an opportunity to hear directly from the executives of each standards working group (WG) about the core issues of the latest international standards. Over 140 AI experts from domestic industry, academia, and research institutes, including leaders of AI international standards working groups from Google, NVIDIA, and domestic companies such as KT and Naver, will attend.


The workshop will feature presentations on major AI international standards from each WG under SC42 and AI initiatives by domestic companies.


In particular, Lenora Zimmerman, project leader from Google in the Trustworthiness WG, will introduce standards addressing social and ethical considerations where AI may cause harm to individuals and society, and solutions to these issues.


Riccardo Mariani, chair of the AI Safety WG from NVIDIA, will explain the requirements standards for design, development, and verification to ensure the safety of AI systems.


Additionally, there will be introductions to AI machine learning performance evaluation, AI-based healthcare information standards, and presentations on AI promotion trends from domestic organizations such as KT, Naver, and the Korea Testing Laboratory.


Lee Kyung-woo, AI Digital Secretary at the Presidential Office, invited to the workshop, stated, "AI can be called a game changer driving innovation across all industries," emphasizing, "The government will support Korea's leap to becoming a strong AI technology nation and will focus on fostering the related AI semiconductor industry."
