'2024 Gangdong Children's Grand Festival' Held

Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that it will hold the ‘2024 Gangdong Children’s Grand Festival’ on May 4th in celebration of Family Month.

The ‘Gangdong Children’s Grand Festival’ is the district’s representative children’s festival, filled with attractions and activities for families with infants and toddlers, held since the opening of the Gangdong Children’s Center in 2007.

This year’s festival, under the slogan “Our Children! Growing Up While Playing,” is organized as an interactive festival where young children can think about their right to play through various play-themed experiences, and choose, enjoy, and learn through play on their own.

For the safety of children, the festival will be held at two locations: Gangdong-gu Office and Gangdong Children’s Center. First, at the Open Yard of Gangdong-gu Office, various cultural performances such as ▲mini musical ‘Dung Pig Wangbang-gwi’ ▲family choir ‘Hwamonie’ ▲magic show will be held, along with play experiences including ▲five-sense playground ▲growing body playground ▲crafting world with teachers ▲fishing playground ▲creative block playground ▲multicultural traditional play experience ▲used toy market ▲and balloon popping to encourage children’s participation.

Additionally, related organizations such as Gangdong Police Station, Gangdong-gu Children’s Food Service Management Support Center, and Korea Braille Library will operate various experience booths including ▲missing child prevention fingerprint registration ▲eat healthy sugar! ▲braille experience program.

At the same time, Gangdong Children’s Center will operate ▲family musical ‘Thump Thump Bakery’ ▲Sky Garden (soap bubbles, photo zone, ecological experience) ▲Moms’ Garden family rest area.

The district will conduct the experience programs for infants, toddlers, and families in the district in three sessions each (from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM) through advance reservation. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:00 AM on April 26th via the Gangdong Children’s Center website, and the participation fee is 1,000 KRW.

Lee Su-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “I hope this Gangdong Children’s Grand Festival will be a place where young children can grow up healthily through play, not just a festival that provides fun and attractions.”
