Professors at major hospitals nationwide will begin resigning from the 25th. Depending on the circumstances of each university, the remaining staff will take a one-day leave next week, and after further discussions at the general meeting, a decision will be made on whether to have a regular weekly day off.

The Emergency Countermeasures Committee of Medical School Professors Nationwide (Jeon-ui-bi) confirmed after an online general meeting on the afternoon of the 23rd that "the resignation will begin as scheduled on April 25," and stated, "We will proceed regardless of the government's resignation acceptance policy."

They added, "Due to working more than 70 to 100 hours per week, professors' mental and physical limits have been reached, so we have decided to take one day off next week," and "The date of the leave will be autonomously decided by each university."

Regarding the fixed weekly day off, they explained, "We plan to discuss this at the regular general meeting on the 26th, depending on the hospital situation."

Medical schools affiliated with Jeon-ui-bi number over 20 nationwide, including Wonkwang University, Ulsan University, Inje University, Seoul National University, Gyeongsang National University, Hanyang University, Daegu Catholic University, Yonsei University, Pusan National University, Konkuk University, Jeju University, Kangwon National University, Keimyung University, Konyang University, Ewha Womans University, Korea University Anam, Korea University Guro, Chonnam National University, Eulji University, and Catholic University.

Earlier, the Emergency Countermeasures Committee of the Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Hospital Professors' Association held a general meeting and announced that they would begin a weekly day off starting from the 30th.

The Emergency Countermeasures Committee of the Ulsan College of Medicine Professors' Association, which includes professors from Seoul Asan Medical Center, also announced after their general meeting that resignations will begin on the 25th, and professors who cannot resign immediately due to circumstances will take a weekly day off starting from the 3rd of next month.
