Oyohan, who is active as a YouTuber, shared on his YouTube channel 'Eomamushi Oyohan' on the 19th the story of his recent attempt to register the '24-hour pull-up' Guinness World Record, which unfortunately ended in failure. The '24-hour pull-up' category involves doing as many pull-ups as possible within 24 hours. Participants are allowed to take breaks freely during the attempt.

Oyohan challenged the Guinness World Record on the 16th of last month. The previous record holder for the '24-hour pull-up' was Gary Lloyd from Australia, with 8,600 pull-ups, so Oyohan only needed to exceed 8,601. He shared his challenge progress in real-time through YouTube live broadcasts. With a friend present at the scene, he surpassed 8,600 pull-ups in 23 hours and 12 minutes, achieving a total of 8,707. A counter was used to ensure accuracy, and the entire process was transparently broadcast live.

However, Oyohan failed to break the Guinness World Record. It was later revealed that Japan’s Adachi Genta had broken the world record with 8,940 pull-ups on February 23. Due to the time it took for the record to be officially recognized, Oyohan learned of this result late and thus failed to break the record. The official press release regarding Genta’s Guinness record was issued on the 11th. Upon hearing the news, Oyohan admitted, "I was quite confused and taken aback."

Despite unintentionally turning the challenge into a Korea-Japan showdown, Oyohan intends to continue pursuing the pull-up Guinness World Record. In his video, he said, "Somehow it turned into a Korea-Japan competition, but I will work to reclaim the world record." He added, "This time, I plan to challenge myself tremendously for 24 hours straight without any breaks. I will do as many as I can without setting a target number." Oyohan also stated, "If I don’t try again, I would feel sorry to those who supported me, and it would feel like I gave up on myself, which would be even harder." He announced plans to retry around September to October. The retry process will also be shared through his YouTube channel and other platforms.

Meanwhile, Oyohan is a former captain of the 707th Special Mission Battalion and appeared on last year’s military survival program 'Steel Troops 3.' His challenge was also featured on SBS’s program 'Moment Capture: Unbelievable Stories in the World' earlier this month.
