Relay Pledge Event Held in Eupmyeondong, Citizen Movement Gains Momentum

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced on the 23rd that it has officially launched the citizen movement starting with the ‘Yeosu Renaissance Together 5 Major Practice Citizen Movement Jungang-dong Pledge Rally’ held on the 15th.

The ‘Yeosu Renaissance Together 5 Major Practice Citizen Movement’ is a broad citizen movement of Yeosu City’s 8th term administration aimed at the ‘successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo’ and the ‘leap to a global marine tourism city’ through the participation and harmony of all citizens.

The plan is to establish a citizen-centered support system to achieve three core tasks: ‘supporting the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo,’ ‘cultivating beautiful islands of Yeosu,’ and ‘creating a sustainable Yeosu,’ along with five practice tasks: ‘kindness, order, cleanliness, service, and environment.’

To this end, until June, relay pledge rallies will be held by the citizen movement practice headquarters in 27 eup, myeon, and dong districts, delivering practice guidelines, reading pledge resolutions, and performing performances to strengthen the determination for the success of the citizen movement.

In particular, on the 18th in Sora-myeon, a ‘Paper Airplane of Hope Performance’ was presented, expressing the citizens’ passion and will for the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.

Additionally, the organizing department and eup, myeon, dong practice headquarters have designated the third Wednesday of every month as the Together 5 Major Practice Citizen Movement Practice Day, actively promoting campaigns such as eradicating high prices and unkindness, preventing overcharging, maintaining order, and environmental cleanup to encourage voluntary participation and create a buzz among all citizens.

Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong of Yeosu said, “The reason Yeosu is what it is today is thanks to the advanced civic consciousness of Yeosu citizens,” and added, “I hope everyone will join forces in the Yeosu Renaissance Together 5 Major Practice Citizen Movement so that Yeosu can leap to a higher level.”
