This activity is a spring environmental event where about 300 Yuhan employees have been bringing acorn seedlings they personally grew at home since last winter to transplant them to Noeul Park, along with planting various other species of seedlings.

Yuhan Corporation began volunteer activities in 2018 to plant trees in Noeul Park, which was formerly a landfill site, in cooperation with the Noeul Park Citizens' Association to preserve biodiversity. Since 2020, they have also been growing acorns at home and transplanting them to Noeul Park.

On this day, over 90 Yuhan employees and their families received education about the background of Noeul Park’s creation from a landfill site and the ecological characteristics of the area, then participated in seed bank activities and planting. The seed bank activity involves placing seeds and soil in eco-friendly sacks on slopes where trees have difficulty growing to prevent soil erosion and help acorns germinate. After the seed bank activity, the group split into two teams: families with preschool children planted acorn seedlings in the tree nursery, while other families planted seedlings such as willows, oak trees, and Quercus mongolica on the steep northern slopes of Noeul Park. The forest created through these efforts is expected to help mitigate heatwaves and fine dust, respond to climate change, and contribute to protecting the ecological environment of Noeul Park.

Hyun Tae-hoon, Marketing PM (Manager) at Yuhan Corporation who participated in the activity, said, “It was rewarding to transplant acorn seedlings that we grew at home together with our children,” adding, “I think this is a meaningful activity that helps children recognize the importance of the environment and practice environmental protection.”

Yuhan Corporation plans to continue forest maintenance activities at Noeul Park and expand various eco-friendly initiatives, including biodiversity activities near its business sites, neighborhood plogging events involving employees, wardrobe clean-ups for the planet, and otter habitat restoration activities.
