The HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 23rd that the HD Hyundai MZ Volunteer Group delivered 15 audiobook devices containing a total of 180 storybooks to multicultural family support centers near the Bundang and Ulsan business sites.
The MZ Volunteer Group is an in-house volunteer team formed by young employees in their 20s and 30s from HD Hyundai group companies. It was launched last month with support from the HD Hyundai 1% Sharing Foundation, which is funded by employee salary donations.
For their first activity, the volunteer group donated their voices to help multicultural families who have difficulty reading books to their children due to limited Korean proficiency. After receiving training from professional voice actors, 30 volunteers personally narrated storybooks to complete the audiobooks. The foundation covered all costs related to audiobook production.
The MZ Volunteer Group plans to conduct quarterly volunteer activities such as creating pop-up books for children from vulnerable groups and producing barrier-free movie subtitles.
A foundation official said, "Considering the tendencies of MZ generation employees, we launched a volunteer group that allows members to choose activities that align with their values. We expect that as young employees voluntarily participate in volunteer work, overall interest in social contribution across the company will increase."
