Daejeon City announced that starting May 1, it will introduce the K-Pass, a public transportation fare refund support program in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The K-Pass is a transportation card that refunds a certain percentage of transportation costs (20-53% depending on the user group) up to 60 rides per month, when public transportation is used regularly at least 15 times a month.
Regardless of distance, a fixed percentage is accumulated based on the amount spent, making it easier to use, and the accumulation rate is higher than that of the existing Altteul Transportation Card, resulting in greater transportation cost savings. For example, using it 60 times a month at 1,500 KRW per ride, users can accumulate 20% (18,000 KRW) for general users, 30% (27,000 KRW) for youth, and 53% (48,000 KRW) for low-income groups.
Existing Altteul Transportation Card holders can continue using the card by consenting to the transfer on the K-Pass website, while new users must obtain a K-Pass card from a card company starting in May and register on the website.
Choi Jong-moon, Director of the Construction and Transportation Bureau of Daejeon City, stated, “The K-Pass program is expected to have a significant support effect by complementing the shortcomings of the existing Altteul Transportation Card and expanding support benefits, enhancing user convenience and reducing transportation costs for low-income citizens.”
