The event began with the Barefoot Walking Friendly City Busan Declaration Ceremony, followed by a special lecture on proper walking and warm-up stretching by Park Dongchang, Chairman of the Barefoot Walking National Movement Headquarters, and then proceeded with the ‘Seven Beach Earthing Challenge First Haeundae Beach Walk,’ where participants walked barefoot for a total of 3 km by circling 1.5 km of the sandy beach twice.

The ‘Earthing Challenge’ focuses on foot health and balanced walking, providing an opportunity to feel a deep connection with nature even within the city by walking barefoot along Busan’s seven beaches in sequence.

Starting from Haeundae Beach, the challenge is scheduled to continue at Gwangalli in June, Dadaepo in September, and Songjeong in November, with plans to cover all seven beaches by 2025. Participants who complete the entire course will receive a special commemorative certificate and souvenir.

The event was held amid high interest and positive reviews from participants, with about 2,000 people walking together, including those who pre-registered and those who signed up on-site despite rainy weather.

Participant Kim said, “This event was more than just walking; it was a precious time to feel a deeper connection between the city and nature,” adding, “Busan, with its seven beaches, is the perfect city for barefoot walking.”

Participant Park shared, “Walking barefoot on the sandy beach while listening to the sound of waves helped relieve accumulated stress and restore my body’s balance,” and added, “The Seven Beach Earthing Challenge, walking along Busan’s seven beaches, will be enough to promote Busan as a healing sea city for both body and mind.”
