Korea-Canada Business CEOs Dialogue: "Optimal Partners in Battery and Electric Vehicles"

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 23rd that Yang Byung-nae, Deputy Minister for Trade, attended the '2nd Korea-Canada CEO Dialogue' held in Seoul and discussed future cooperation plans between the two countries with Mary Ng, Canadian Minister of Trade, who is visiting Korea, and key business leaders from both countries.

This event was organized by the Korea Business Association and the Business Council of Canada (BCC) to promote expanded cooperation between Korean and Canadian businesspeople, taking advantage of the visit of a large trade delegation consisting of more than 170 Canadian companies and institutions.

In his keynote speech, Deputy Minister Yang highly evaluated the future cooperation potential between Canada, which is pursuing leading clean energy transition policies to achieve carbon neutrality, and Korea. He expressed particular expectations that Korea, with its excellent manufacturing capabilities, and Canada, rich in energy and mineral resources, can become optimal cooperative partners for mutually beneficial development in fields such as batteries and electric vehicles.

Deputy Minister Yang stated, “Based on the current solid trade and investment cooperation, I hope the scope of cooperation between the two countries will further expand into new areas such as defense and small modular reactors (SMR).” He emphasized that the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will also create a free trade and investment environment to support the creation of new and innovative business opportunities for companies from both countries.

Afterwards, businesspeople from both countries attending the event shared their experiences in overseas expansion in sessions on energy, defense, semiconductors, and discussed cooperation plans through inter-company meetings.
