Basic Financial Knowledge Explained Easily and Enjoyably
On the 23rd, the Financial Supervisory Service announced that it has produced and published the third edition of the Financial Life Guide for North Korean Defectors, a financial life guidebook tailored to different settlement periods, to help vulnerable groups such as North Korean defectors?who are prone to financial fraud?easily and enjoyably acquire financial knowledge.
This revised edition updates the content to reflect the changed financial environment and includes new types of financial fraud cases such as virtual asset investment scams and fraudulent fundraising, along with ways to respond to them.
The main feature is that it makes it easy to understand a wide range of financial topics including savings, investment, and insurance by adding comics and case studies to help adapt to the new financial environment. In particular, North Korean dialect is included alongside financial terms to assist North Korean defectors who are unfamiliar with financial terminology.
Educational content that allows learners to practice what they have learned is also provided. To enable acquisition through repetitive learning, practical videos related to the main text, such as the financial services ‘Financial Products at a Glance’ and ‘Insurance Collection,’ have been produced.
Useful financial information for daily life is also provided. Through the themed ‘Take a Break’ corner, it delivers useful information to help North Korean defectors smoothly adapt to society, as well as instructions on how to use the Financial Consumer Information Portal FINE, precautions when using credit cards, methods for managing personal information, and how to utilize support systems related to microfinance.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated, "We expect that through this booklet, North Korean defectors will not only cultivate the basic financial capabilities necessary for life in South Korea but also have a solid foundation to settle early as members of our society and lead a stable economic life."
