Goheung Aerospace Festival Opens Full-Scale Exhibits of Naro and Nuri Rockets

Special Events Including Space Travel Media Art

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that a special exhibition hall featuring the actual models of Naro and Nuri rockets will be operated at the 14th Gohung Aerospace Festival, held from May 4 to 6 at the Naro Space Center Space Science Museum area.

The special exhibition hall, where visitors can experience the vivid history of Korea's journey to space in one place, will showcase ▲KSR-I, II, III, Korea’s indigenous scientific exploration rockets, ▲KSLV-I and II (Naro and Nuri rockets), Korea’s first space launch vehicles that successfully placed satellites into orbit, ▲payload adapters carrying satellites, ▲payload fairings that protect satellites from atmospheric friction heat and pressure changes during flight, ▲Nuri rocket’s 75-ton engine, and ▲a performance verification satellite model launched during Nuri rocket’s second launch. Additionally, a model of the Apollo 11 lunar lander will be displayed to inspire dreams of space exploration.

Moreover, only available during the festival, visitors can experience ▲augmented reality lunar surface exploration participated by KAIST, ▲the only platform to outer space decorated with the eight planets of the solar system called the Space Terminal, and ▲media art where visitors meet astronauts and travel to the moon and planets within the solar system, all of which are expected to heighten anticipation for the aerospace festival.

A county official stated, “We plan to offer fun and diverse attractions to visitors, including 35 types of space science experiences such as the astronaut carnival and KAIST lunar exploration robot demonstrations, as well as the alien show by The Mart on the Earthling stage.”
