Proven International Research Capability
Focused on Developing Security Systems
Professor Yoo Il-seon of the Department of Information Security and Cryptography Mathematics at Kookmin University has been listed in the ‘Top 2% of World’s Leading Researchers’.
The ‘Top 2% of World’s Leading Researchers’ list is published by Elsevier and Professor John Ioannidis of Stanford University. Professor Yoo’s inclusion in this list demonstrates his international research capabilities.
Professor Yoo analyzes vulnerabilities that may occur in both wired and wireless sections of 5G networks and conducts research to securely protect mobile communication networks from external attacks. Additionally, with the advancement of quantum computing technology and the increasing importance of security issues, he is focusing on developing new security systems to prepare for the era of quantum-resistant cryptography.
Last year, Professor Yoo conducted a study titled ‘Embedded Security for Safe and Reliable Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes Patients Using Insulin Pumps,’ supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. This research, centered on abnormal behavior detection technology and security protocols, applies security research not only to IT devices but also to medical devices, drawing attention as an important case in the future security field.
Professor Yoo stated, “Together with my laboratory colleagues, I will continue to strengthen our leading position in the domestic information security field and strive to propose solutions to global security issues.”
