Attending the Opening Ceremony to Welcome the Athletes

Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, attended the opening ceremony of the ‘63rd Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival’ held at Miryang Sports Complex on the 19th, welcoming and encouraging the ‘Changwon City Athletes’ who entered representing the city.
The Changwon City athletes, who entered 16th in the opening ceremony, marched in with the catchphrase ‘50th Anniversary of Changwon National Industrial Complex Designation.’ In response, Mayor Hong waved his hand and greeted the athletes warmly.

The 63rd Gyeongsangnam-do Residents Sports Festival is being held in various locations in Miryang City, with over 20,000 athletes and officials from 18 cities and counties participating in 36 events, from the 19th to the 22nd.
The Changwon City athletes, based on excellent infrastructure including high school, university, and city hall workplace sports teams selected within the jurisdiction, are the largest in the province with 701 athletes, 339 officials and coaches, totaling 1,040 members participating in 34 events.
The Changwon City athletes aim to achieve top rankings in all events at this 63rd Residents Sports Festival with outstanding strength. All team members plan not only to achieve excellent game results but also to demonstrate sportsmanship, widely promoting the status of Changwon Special City, the capital of Gyeongnam and a sports mecca.

Meanwhile, after the opening ceremony, Mayor Hong encouraged the participants at the athletes’ banquet for their hard work and urged them to showcase their skills freely without injury.
