A man in his 50s accused of stalking Baek Hyun-jin, a member of the People Power Party, has been sent to trial while in custody.

According to the legal community on the 22nd, the Women and Children Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lim Yoo-kyung) indicted Choi on the 19th on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and spreading false information under the Public Official Election Act, while in custody.

Choi is accused of causing a disturbance at the funeral hall on the 17th of last month during the mourning period for Baek's relative, claiming, "I am engaged to the assembly member. We have been in continuous contact." The police responded to the report, warned Choi that he could be punished under the Stalking Punishment Act, and then sent him home.

It is reported that Choi continuously spread sexual insults and false information about Baek through social networking services (SNS).

Baek's side filed a complaint against Choi with the police on the 22nd of last month. When Choi did not comply with the summons, the police arrested him and transferred him to the prosecution while in custody.
