Gyeryong-si Provides Volunteer Activity Mileage as Local Gift Certificates

Payment of Over 13 Million Won to 252 Volunteers

Gyeryong City in Chungnam announced on the 22nd that it will be the first in the Chungcheong region to support volunteer activity mileage with local gift certificates (Gyeryong Love Gift Certificates).

The city provides 500P (500 KRW) per hour in local currency to volunteers who have accumulated more than 50 hours of volunteer work last year and are registered on the 1365 Volunteer Portal.

To this end, the city partially amended the "Gyeryong City Volunteer Activity Support Ordinance" in June last year to establish provisions regarding the operation of the volunteer activity mileage system.

The city automatically extracts and distributes gift certificates to eligible recipients through the system without requiring volunteers to apply.

On the 11th, the city paid about 13 million KRW to 252 volunteers and plans to actively promote the program to encourage volunteer participation in large-scale local events such as the Gyeryong Military Culture Festival.

Mayor Lee Eung-woo said, "Through the volunteer activity mileage local gift certificate payment project, we will encourage the efforts of volunteers and pay close attention to spreading the atmosphere of volunteer participation."
