He was also highly praised for attracting investments from leading defense companies and related public institutions to transform Nonsan into a representative city of South Korea’s defense logistics industry.

In addition, Mayor Baek achieved milestones such as reaching 100 billion KRW in exports, successfully hosting the 2023 and 2024 Strawberry Festivals, organizing the '2024 Nonsan Overseas Agricultural and Food Expo' held in Bangkok, Thailand, promoting the 310 billion KRW-scale Topjeongho Resort development project, and being solely selected for the long-awaited 30-year Gwangseok-myeon Smart Livestock Complex contest.

The Korean Local Government Association has recognized Nonsan as a model case of local autonomy and appointed Mayor Baek as the Vice President of External Cooperation.

Mayor Baek said, “I am pleased that the Korean Local Government Association, which promotes in-depth research and project discovery for the development of local autonomy in South Korea, has taken notice of Nonsan’s progress,” adding, “I believe the association’s knowledge and advice will be of great help in addressing various challenges faced by the region in the future.”

Meanwhile, the Korean Local Government Association is a professional academic organization aiming to improve the quality of life of local residents through the decentralization of authority, balanced development, and maturation of local autonomy in South Korea.
