The 63rd Seongung Yi Sun-sin Festival Held from the 24th to 28th
Asan City in Chungnam announced the birth week and held a water-pouring ceremony in front of the Yi Sun-sin statue at Sinjeongho on the 21st, marking the official start of the festival.
The proclamation and water-pouring ceremony were held ahead of the opening of the "63rd Seongung Yi Sun-sin Festival," which will take place from the 24th to the 28th. Attendees included Mayor Park Kyung-gwi, City Council Chairman Kim Hee-young, National Assembly members Lee Myung-soo and Kang Hoon-sik, Lee Jong-hak, chairman of the Deoksu Yi clan Chungmugong branch, and heads of various organizations.
Mayor Park Kyung-gwi said, "Starting with the proclamation of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's 'birth week' and the statue water-pouring ceremony, various cultural and artistic performances and experiential events celebrating Admiral Yi Sun-sin's birth will be held. I am honored and delighted that Admiral Yi Sun-sin can be part of Art Valley Asan, which aims to be the best high-quality cultural and artistic city."
Meanwhile, the "Art Valley Asan 63rd Seongung Yi Sun-sin Festival" will be held across Asan City for five days from the 24th to the 28th, starting with the birth week proclamation and water-pouring ceremony, at locations including Yi Sun-sin Sports Complex, Hyeonchungsa Shrine, Onyang Oncheon Station, and Gokgyocheon.
