Sanho-dong, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, announced on the 22nd that the Oikos Volunteer Society of Munchang Church carried out repair volunteer activities targeting low-income households in the area.
On the 20th, the haircut and house repair volunteer work was carried out by about 10 Oikos members who participated either directly or through sponsorship amid falling raindrops. From 1 PM for four hours, they improved the living environment of low-income households in Sanho-dong by replacing flooring in rooms and kitchens, repairing bathroom ceilings, replacing electrical wires and switches, and wallpapering kitchen walls.
The recipient of the help said, “The house I live in had become old and frequent breakdowns caused great inconvenience in daily life, but I never dared to repair it and just lived like that. I am very happy to receive house repair help today and sincerely thank the Oikos Volunteer Society.”
Chairman Lee Jin-seo said, “Today was a rewarding time as we were able to extend a helping hand to families in need, and I thank the members who participated in the volunteer activities. We want to continue playing the role of a light that brightens the darkness, even if only a little, through ongoing volunteer work.”
Meanwhile, the Oikos Volunteer Society of Munchang Church had suspended volunteer activities for several years due to COVID-19 but has been carrying out house repair volunteer activities since January this year, conducting inclusive welfare activities that accompany and support neighbors in need in the local community.
